Blue Ocean Society

In the heart of Hampton Beach, there’s a place where you can learn about the ocean and take action to protect marine life. Our Blue Ocean Discovery Center has several tanks that exhibit local marine invertebrates and algae, and a touch tank where you can learn about different species and how to safely handle them. Our knowledgeable educators will share fun facts about the species and lead you in hands-on activities and investigations!  You can also explore our maritime history exhibit, learn about whale research, find out the effects of climate change on the Gulf of Maine and participate in a beach cleanup!

Explore the Ocean World,llc Oceanarium

The Oceanarium is a small, unique hands-on natural history museum with a touch tank, deep water tank and hands on exhibits. Admission includes a personal tour with a biologist including handling the deep-water crabs, stars and other live sea animals and a short talk on whales, sharks, lobstering and touch tank. There is unlimited time at the touch tank and to explore the exhibits on your own. The biologist is available for questions during your entire visit. Everything in the museum is brought in by local commercial fishermen and can be found in the Gulf of Maine.

Admission is $8 per person

The Oceanarium will be open from June 27th through Labor Day for the 2020 season.

Hours: 10-5 Daily, Closed Wednesday

To protect our patrons and animals against Covid-19 we will be sanitizing the entrance and practicing social distancing. Since any chemicals will harm or kill the live animals we will be requiring all patrons to wear masks and gloves, that we provide, for your safety and the animals.  The number of people allowed inside will be limited so we ask your patience and understanding in these troubling times.  The touch tanks are waiting for you! Stay safe.
