Save our Sanford: The Hampton Historical Society needs your help to save a piece of Hampton firefighting history
The Hampton Historical Society is on a mission.
They want to save a wonderful piece of Hampton history – a 1920’s REO Speedwagon Sanford Pumper that provided fire protection in Hampton for many years. Its in need of a permanent home, and a team of Hampton Historical Society members along with the Professional Firefighters of Hampton, Local 2664 are working together to make that happen by adding onto the Seacoast Fire Museum. Adding the space for the Sanford Pumper onto the Fire Museum is doable, but they need help from folks who want to see this piece of Hampton history on display right here in our community! You can help by donating to their Save Our Sanford (SOS) campaign.
To donate, go to their Donations/Membership page. On that page, ignore the instructions concerning Membership. You are not purchasing a membership and in order for it to go toward this fund, you need to indicate where the money goes. These are the instructions for payment. To pay by Venmo, scan or click the Venmo QR-code and be sure to enter “SANFORD” on the form that comes up for payment. To pay via PayPal, click the PayPal Donation button and be sure to enter “SANFORD” on the form that comes up. To pay by check, follow instructions, but again, please specify “SANFORD” on the check. This will ensure the funds go into the correct account.
You can also buy a brick!

Your personal paver brick will guide children, teenagers, firefighters, tourists and adults of all ages into a new addition of the museum to preserve this Sanford pumper. Each brick costs $125, with $100 from each brick going to help finance an addition to the current Seacoast Fire Museum. They depend on the community to keep Hampton’s historical legacies alive so that each of us can experience the gift of lifelong learning. To purchase a brick, please visit this link: Sanford Brick. You’ll need to print out the form and follow the instructions, or use the QR Code on the PDF form.
Another way to help is to purchase apparel. Follow this link to find out how you can purchase “Save Our Sanford” t-shirts, hoodies and other apparel: https://www.hamptonhistoricalsociety.org/sanford-apparel.pdf
We hope to see this mission become a success and we will do our best to share their story along the way.
