According to the New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation, the Hampton Beach State Park maintenance team has begun removing dried plant material that accumulated above the wrack line north of the jetty. At this time, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department is allowing raking only during daylight hours and only with a Fish and Game monitor present.
Fish and Game has advised that young shorebirds (still learning to fly) are continuing to use the native beach vegetation in that area for refuge. As a result, some vegetation must remain undisturbed until further notice. The maintenance team worked for several hours and removed multiple loads of debris.
Additional cleanup will continue as further work is authorized by New Hampshire Fish and Game. The Hampton Beach Village District is sharing this update to help keep the public informed. We appreciate everyone’s patience as the state continues to balance beach maintenance with the protection of New Hampshire’s coastal wildlife.
